Route 66 - The Trip of a Lifetime

May 30th I'm getting married. Woowooo!

What does this mean for the blog? Well Mrs Burger Addict(MBA) will actually be Mrs. Apart from that, the day won't have any impact on the blog....The honeymoon however. We're are flying into Chicago on June 1st and embarking on a month burger road trip across America.

We've hired an SUV and will be taking it across route 66 for most of the journey, verging off via Las Vegas, San Francisco & San Diego before flying from Los Angeles to Hawaii for a week. Can. Not. Wait.

We have 3 weeks between landing in Chicago and flying off from LA so have plenty of time(hopefully) to visit as many places as possible. This is where I'm asking for your help.

If you have any recommendations for burger joints, premium food, unmissable sights or anything really, along or near the mother road, please leave it in the comments section and I'll add to the ever growing list.

I'll hopefully have the chance to update the blog throughout the trip. Very lucky to have found someone who shared my dream of driving across America.

With a range of guesses from 71 right up to 1,215(not a typo, one thousand two hundred and fifteen!) we have a winner! 

I've eaten 114 burgers consumed in that period and @TheGaztronome guessed correctly. 

They've ranged from McDonalds to the most expensive burger in the world.

Friday 12th April marked 1 year as a self-confessed burger addict!

As a thank you to everyone I've decided to do a competition on the blog and the good guys at Byron have kindly given £20 to celebrate this landmark occasion. 

Five Guys are coming to London

In 1986, two of Jerry Murrell's sons decided against going to college, so Jerry decided to start a family business with them in Arlington County, Virginia. His aim was simple: he wanted to be `the' place in town to go for a good burger.

Fast forward 26 years. There are now more than 1,000 Five Guys joints in the US and Canada, with another 1,000 in the works.

With all five of Jerry's sons working for Five Guys, who does Jerry credit for their success? You guessed it - their mum and his wife.

This summer, Five Guys are opening their first overseas restaurant right here in London. Upon confirmation of their first site in Covent Garden, I decided to fire a few questions at Molly B. Catalano, their director of communications and public relations.
