Location: Meard Street, Soho & Brixton Village
A LONDON BURGER RESTAURANT INSPIRED BY GREAT BRITISH
I vary rarely venture south of the river, and with home being Essex the original Brixton Honest Burgers had eluded me for some time and then somehow I have had the privilege of eating from their two restaurants in just over a week. Last Sunday I had a take away from Brixton Village, and today eating at their newish Soho location.
|Whats the story?|
MEAT - Dreamy juicy beef, salivating whilst reminiscing about it, supplied by the superb Ginger Pig. Honest deliver everything you would want and despite the wonderful toppings the beef here is still king as it should be.
BUN - A glazed brioche bun lightly toasted which I assume is from Millers so does everything you would want. Keeps firm, soaks up all the juices(there are a lot) and manages it with ease.
TOPPINGS - Tasty smoky bacon, red onion relish and mature cheddar sit on top of the patty and give off a full orchestration of flavours that really does get the taste buds singing. Pickle, lettuce and a few mustard seeds under the patty which again are spot on.
SIDES – Sweet Jesus I didn't think chips could taste this good, they are in my opinion, like the burger perfection. They have a crisp outer coating with soft tasty potato inside and seasoned with rosemary salt, very rare you get chips where using a sauce really isn't needed. A quick word on the drinks, £1.50 for a can of coke is a bit pricey.
The burger is smaller then I thought it would be but this is stacked and packed and with the fries would satisfy the hungriest of appetites.
Never before have I had a burger in London where its reputation was so high I was expecting to be blown away and thankfully I was. Perfection is debatable however I challenge anyone to give legitimate areas for improvement in their burgers or fries.
If you work or live in London you have no excuse not to visit these guys, North or South both covered and I have eaten in both and they are both magnificent. Consistency is always the key when it comes to a burger joint and they are two for two with me and a 10/10 both times!
