Hamburger America is a state-by-state guide to 150 great burger joint from the man that brought us the film documentary of the same name George Motz of hamburgeramerica.com.
Rather then reviewing the burgers with a score he gives a look behind the burger served and details the history of the venue and its people.
"this book is not really meant to be a "Best Of" by any means. It is only meant to function as a guide to finding great burger experiences in America."
The reverse of the front cover opens up to a map of America; 41 States visited and numbered 1-150 the burger joints visited in the book. Unparalleled commitment. With my road trip next year currently in planning this book really was a must purchase and I am studying the book page by page.
Motz has had more burgers then even I could imagine and varieties that I have also never seen or heard of, toppings like butter, nuts, peanut butter and pastrami. The only downside of this book for me is that I would have liked more pictures of burgers, for example the world famous Chicago Billy Goats Tavern & Grill has 3 pages in the book but no pictures of its cheezborger, however maybe this is a better way to get you to visit places to see the beauties for themselves.
I doubt any other 1 person has done more to promote hamburger joints in the world then Motz and this book really is a must for any burger enthusiast.
"A wonderful book. When you travel across the United States take this guide along with you"-Martha Stewart
